TCIL bagged J N Tata Total Quality Award for over
all best associate company. Mr. B. L. Raina (MD, TCIL) has received this award in function
held at Tube Makers Club Jamshedpur on 10th April 2004. JN TATA Total Quality Award system
was introduced in the year 1995 in Tata Steel.
Why do we need a JN TATA process?
TATA STEEL could anticipate the need to
institutionalize performance improvement and culture of excellence and had come up with
the JN TATA process for its units. The Criteria, Process of Application writing,
Assessment, feedback and reward are similar to the TBEM process. The process owner for the
J N TATA process is Business Excellence.
What is this assessment all about?
This is defined as a cyclic, comprehensive,
systematic review of a Unit's activities and results referenced against all Criteria of
the Excellence Model. The out-put from this comprehensive assessment is an agreed list of
strengths, Opportunities for improvement(OFI) and a scoring profile which allows for
prioritization and subsequent execution of improvement plans.
